Paul Douglas Schell

Paul Douglas Schell, 78, recently of Traverse City passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Orchard Creek Supportive Care where he has been lovingly cared for over the last 3 years.

Paul was born on July 27, 1937 in Sandusky, MI to the late Harvey and Belva Ruth (Teets) Schell. He married his high school sweetheart Marsha Joan Frederick on August 31, 1957. They attended college at Central Michigan University. After a short time in Shepard Michigan they settled in Big Rapids where together they lovingly raised two wonderful children, Jennifer and Scott.

Paul honorably served our Country in the United States Army. After his time in service he spent 30 years as a dedicated math professor at Ferris State University. Paul enjoyed playing softball, working in his yard and golfing with his buddies, especially in the annual Saints and Sinners tournament. Paul loved participating in and watching sports and spent 20 years as the official score keeper for the Ferris Bulldog Hockey team. Most importantly Paul was a family man, spending as many happy hours as he could with his children and grand children. He will be deeply missed by all the family and friends who knew him.

Surviving Paul is his wife Marsha of 58 years; children, Dr. Jennifer Schell (Dan) Bonifacio, Scott (Linda) Schell; grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Delaney, Marie, and Benjamin; brothers Dick Teel, Ed (Norma) Schell , Gary Schell and many,many other loving family members and friends.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law's Sally and JoAnn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Christ The King Catholic Church at 11 am with a visitation beginning at 10 am. Fr. Raymond Cotter will officiate. Burial will take place at the Acme Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Ferris State Bulldog Hockey Blueline Club.
