Paul H. Schultz, formerly of Detroit and Crystal Falls, Michigan, passed away on
November 14, 2024 in Traverse City, Michigan. Paul was born in Detroit on June
1, 1937 to Herbert and Carmen Schultz.
Paul attended the University of Michigan and earned his law degree at Wayne State
University. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Paul married Susan Tolkemitt on August 17, 1963 in Grosse Pointe Farms. They
were active members of the Detroit Boat Club where they enjoyed sailing.
In 1973, they moved to Crystal Falls where Paul served as the Iron County
prosecuting attorney and practiced law. He was a member of the Rotary Club,
played the trombone in several musical ensembles,and enjoyed playing tennis.
Paul and his family moved to Traverse City in 1988 where Paul joined a legal firm
and then continued on in private practice. Paul maintained his involvement in the
Rotary Club of Traverse City, tennis leagues, the Northwestern Michigan College
Community Band, the Northwind Brass, and several other performance groups.
Paul and Sue spent much of their summers sailing on Grand Traverse Bay.
Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan Schultz; daughter Amy (John)
Pflughoeft; son Karl (Marissa) Schultz; granddaughters Lauren (Danny Hanson)
Pflughoeft and Dana Pflughoeft; and his nephew, nieces and their families. Paul
was preceded in death by his brother Richard C. Schultz, Sr., sister-in-law Pauline
Schultz and granddaughter Zoë Schultz.
