Philip Alan Newhouse

Philip Alan Newhouse of Traverse City, Michigan, died on Friday, August 27, 2021. Alan is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Darlene May Newhouse. He is survived by his children, Mark Alan (Debbie) Newhouse, of Traverse City, Michigan, Matthew Scott (Sandra) Newhouse of Parachute, Colorado, Melanie Dee (Will) Harper of Cypress, Texas, Mary Beth (Todd) Peters of Alexandria, Virginia; his grandchildren, Amber Lynn Newhouse, Jordan Ann (Christopher) Goepfrich, Shelby Ann (Kyle) Storey, Jacob Alan Newhouse, Alexander Alan Harper, Madalyn Grace Harper; and his great grandchildren Jackson Alan Goepfrich and Caylee Ann Goepfrich.

Alan was a gentle soul who was cherished by all who knew him. His kind nature, willingness to help others and generous heart are what will be remembered most. He was a lover of old westerns, homemade cookies, nature and animals and was happiest taking a walk in the woods, enjoying the sounds of the lake, experiencing the first snow fall of the season, having a cup of coffee and a cookie with a buddy or scratching the ears of any lucky dog who happened to be in his presence. Most of all he loved his family. He was a tinkerer and a solver of problems and would give sage advice to anyone who would be still enough to listen to what he had to say. He was a man of few words who had profound insight into life's problems. As his loving wife would say "With Alan, still waters run deep." As much as he is missed by his family, they are comforted to know he is reunited with his bride to whom he was devoted his entire life.
