Obituary

Phillip Feiger of Lake Ann, Michigan passed away April 24, 2022 at the age of 82.

Phillip was born to Harold P. Feiger and Anna (Ransom) Feiger June 2, 1939 in Traverse City, Michigan. Anna had bought him a pink baby book in hopes of having a second daughter; instead, she said, she was presented with a 9lb. 'sumo wrestler'.

He had two brothers, David and Fred Feiger, and one sister, Carolyn (Feiger) Thiel.

Phillip lived in Traverse City and Lake Ann for most of his childhood. He graduated from Traverse City Central, then immediately joined the Forest on Fire lookout in Washington State. There he learned to make gravy: "First you cook it on one side, then you flip it over and cook on the other side."

He spent the next four years in the Marine Corps, earning the rank of Corporal. He traveled extensively with the Marine Corps marching band. He also worked on jet engines and was a better mechanic than a cook. He then attended Northwestern Michigan College, followed by Michigan State University, and earned a BS in wildlife conservation.

In 1965 Phillip married Judith Brunais, daughter of Joseph F. and Theresa (Crain) Brunais. She said she married him because he was almost as smart as she was, and because he would make pretty babies.
They headed west with all their belongings (a coffee table, two chairs, and a tea set).

He was hired by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and worked in Brigham City, Utah, where their daughter Deborah was born. Next they moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas and added a son, Andrew, to the clan.

They traveled to Monte Vista, Colorado, Rock Hall, Maryland, and finally to McGrath, Alaska.
Phillip and Judith retired and returned to Lake Ann, Michigan, where he spent time feeding the deer on their property and hunting up in the UP with the boys. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, making wonderful homemade ice cream and corny jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, his daughter Deborah, his son Andrew, seven grandchildren: Peter, Rowan, Elissa, Keira, David (Alika), Kailee, and Zane, and three great-grandchildren.

See you later, big guy, we love you.
