Phyllis Jean Guernsey, 94, of Traverse City passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Orchard Creek Supportive Care.
Phyllis was born on October 27, 1930, in Howell, Michigan, to the late Clyde and Hazel (Markle) Hetchler. On August 30, 1952, she married Norman Dennis Guernsey, in Angola, Indiana. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and cherished memories until Norman's passing.
Phyllis dedicated over 30 years of service as a clerk with Consumers Power, where her hard work and commitment were valued and admired.
In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed a variety of activities that brought her joy and fulfillment. She had a passion for gardening, delighting in the beauty of nature she cultivated. She was an exceptional cook, often sharing meals with family and friends who treasured her company. Phyllis loved visiting her sister's farm, where she found solace and happiness. Above all, she cherished time spent with her wonderful family, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Phyllis will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Beth (Bob) Walton, Dennis (Leslie) Guernsey, Amy (Gary) Clous, David (Shelly) Guernsey, grandchildren, Erin, Kara, Blair, Gavin, Ashely, Cassie, Benjamin and Jacob, along with many other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman, and her sister Bernita Eager.
Private family services will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cherryland Humane Society.
