TRAVERSE CITY — Phyllis Louise Manville, 85, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.Phyllis was born on Oct. 29, 1926, in Traverse City, to the late Earl and Nellie (Weathers) Akey. She married the late Orval Charles Manville on June 19, 1948, also in Traverse City. Phyllis attended The Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, knitting, playing slot machines and camping. Family was the most important thing to Phyllis; she will be deeply missed by all of her family members.Surviving Phyllis are her children; daughter, Janice (Ronald) Gordon, of Traverse City; Ted (Cathy) Manville, of Thompsonville; grandchildren, Marie Manville, Katie Manville, Jeff (Katrina) Gordon and Jason (Kathryn) Gordon; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Akey. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orval; and brothers, Teddy, Harold and Jack Akey.Visitation for Phyllis will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 11, 2012, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. with a visitation held one hour prior, on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the First Church of the Nazarene, the corner of 14th and Division in Traverse City.
