Phyllis Jeanne Neason, 89, of Traverse City went home to her lord on July 7, 2012 at Orchard Creek Supportive Care.
Born on August 14, 1922, she was preceded in death by her parents Rena and R. Vern MacIntosh and her husband Frank "Pete" Neason. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Ralph) Wolff and her sons William (Susan) Neason of Grand Rapids, Richard (Arlis) Neason of Henderson, NV, and Timothy (Denise) Neason of Middleville, grandchildren Shayna, Matthew, and Jeffery, and six nephews.
Jeanne was born and lived her life on Old Mission Peninsula. She graduated from T.C. High School and Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit where she became a registerd Nurse. She married Pete after his duty in the Air Force during World War II on August 4, 1945.
She worked on the family cherry farms and in nursing at Munson Hospital until her retirement in 1979. She and Pete enjoyed the winter months in Florida for over 30 years. Jeanne was a faithful member of the First Congregational Church, and a former member of the Junior Women's Club, the American Red Cross and the American Nurses Association.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 3 until 5 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Private family Graveside services will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Pete.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Congregational Church.
