Phyllis Marie Wagner, 86, of Traverse City, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on March 3, 2015. She was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, on September 4, 1928 to Clyde and Rose (Honzik) Poole, where she resided the first five years of her life.

In 1933, Phyllis, her mother and her stepfather, Charlie Russel Walter, moved to Michigan where she resided the rest of her life.

On July 13, 1947, she entered into marriage with Robert Dale Wagner at Monroe Center Methodist Church and the couple had two daughters, Sherry Lynn and Pamela Ann.

Phyllis graduated from Traverse City High School in 1946. She worked at International Harvester Company, and later at the Traverse City Regional Psychiatric Hospital, retiring from there after 25 years of service.

She enjoyed camping with her family, traveling throughout the United States, wintering in Florida, playing table games with friends, cooking and baking. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church before it merged with Traverse Bay United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela of Traverse City; sisters, Ellen Rissin of Durand, MI, and Sandra (Ron) Briery of Oregon; brothers, Robert (Kay) Walter of Queensbury, NY, and Daniel Walter of Durand, MI; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert; daughter, Sherry Lynn (in infancy); both parents and a stepfather.

A memorial service will take place at 11a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, with visitation held one hour prior. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be at Monroe Center Cemetery on a later date.
