Proxes Garvin

Proxes Garvin, 84, of Maple City passed away on October 31, 2019. Proxes was born in Maple City on June 17, 1935 in her home to William and Helen Skipski. On July 28, 1961 Proxes married Stan Garvin of Cedar, MI. They were married 58 years and had 3 children, Jackie (Donn Smallish), Roger (Anne Snider) and Perry.

Proxes followed her husband to Detroit and got a job at Shatterproof Glass Co. where she worked as a keypunch operator, as well as being a major leader in organizing the union at Shatterproof Glass.

Proxes loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She kept an immaculate house and said the rosary every night before bed. Proxes loved the Red Wings. No matter where they played, east or west coast, she watched from the puck drop to the buzzer.

Proxes, above all else, loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Stan, her children, and grandchildren, Chelsea & Josh Smallish, Alice & Rosemary Garvin, Samantha & Ava Garvin, as well as her sister-in-law Joan Skipski.

The celebration of Proxes's life will be at St. Rita-St Joseph Church. Visitation is November 3, 2019 from 3-6 with Rosary at 5:30. Mass will be November 4 at 11:00am with 1 hour visitation prior to the mass, followed by a grave site service to follow at St. Rita's cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions to be given to St. Rita-St Joseph Parish, and also for mass offerings.
