Rachel Frances Ovalle, 19, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly February 11, 2018.
She was born July 18, 1998 to Steven Ovalle and Susan Alexander in Methuen, MA.
Rachel grew up on Old Mission Peninsula where she attended Old Mission Peninsula School from preschool through 5th grade. She loved her Old Mission family and her childhood memories will always be cherished. During that time she began competing in Junior Olympic gymnastics where at the age of ten took first place in the state of Michigan. During middle school she continued to excel both in gymnastics and academically. She was Editor in Chief of the East Middle School year book and was considered a friend magnet, compassionate and kind to everyone she met. Rachel lit up the room with her infectious smile and loving presence. Her gift of compassion and selflessness came to fruition in the birth of her son and expectations of motherhood. Rachel loved being a mother more than anything she had accomplished in her life. She will be deeply missed.
Rachel is survived by her 2 year old son Jeremiah, her parents Susan Alexander and Steven Ovalle, her brother Danny, her best friend Allie, her grandparents; Nancy and Jim Alexander and Barbara and Arthur 'Poppa' Ovalle. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles; Steve (Margaret) Alexander, Mike LeClair, Regina (Tom) Gallo, Josephine Ovalle, Frances Ovalle, Mike Ovalle, Danny (Cyndie) Ovalle, Tina Ovalle and Bill Leyden. As well as cousins; Marilee, Megan, Claire, Sarah, Michael, Heather, Billy, Crystal, Regina, Erin, Eva, Mike, Lucas, Samantha and Emma.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother Frances' Nana' Ovalle, her cousin Scarlett Roche and her aunts; Vicki Ovalle-Leyden and Kris LeClair.
A funeral service honoring Rachel's life will take place Saturday February 17, 2018 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior.
