TRAVERSE CITY — Ralph G. Gould, 87, of Traverse City, entered the gates of heaven and went to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.Born Jan. 14, 1925, in Cut Bank, Mont., he was the son of the late James and Alice (Newnham) Gould. On April 4, 1966, in New Britain, Conn., he married the former Cynthia Kall.He proudly served his country with the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. Ralph was a longtime member of Faith Reformed Church. He found much comfort in his faith and his love for the Lord.He was truly a people-person, and his life career always centered around others as he worked in public relations, fundraising and broadcasting.He will be fondly remembered for his love of family, his great sense of humor and his love of preparing meals at home. He had great command of his kitchen. Ralph also enjoyed creative writing, gardening and watching his Detroit Tigers.He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Gould, of Traverse City; children, Douglas (Sheri) Gould, of Allentown, N.J., Cheryl (Skip) Neumann, of Norwich, Conn., Gordon Gould, of Thompson, Conn., Alicia Poelman, of Clinton, Conn., and Robin (Steve) Fouch, of Traverse City; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Sullivan, of New Holland, Pa.; along with many nieces and nephews.Ralph was preceded in death by his siblings, Ed, Robert, Jack, George and Rosemary Newhart. Memorial services will be held at Faith Reformed Church on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Les Wiseman will officiate.
