TRAVERSE CITY — Ray DerLynn Besemer Sr., 67, formerly of Morley, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Munson Hospice House, surrounded by his family. Ray was born on June 4, 1943, to Ray and Opal (Caine) Besemer in Howard City. He graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1960 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving his country, Ray was honorably discharged. In 2003, he moved to Traverse City with his loving wife, Cheryl. Ray was a caring and compassionate person who loved hunting, fishing, taking care of his dogs (Sandy and Dogy), being outdoors and spending time with his family.Ray is survived by his wife of 14 years, Cheryl; his children, Trease Davidson, Linda L. (Tom) Rauch, Ray D. (Tracie) Besemer Jr. and Randy D. (Lisa) Besemer; his brothers, Rick (Judy) Besemer, Bill (Schar) Besemer and Bert (Kathy) Besemer; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents.Graveside services will be Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Caine-Weeks Cemetery in Morley.Memorial donations can be directed to Munson Hospice House.
