Obituary

Raymond Albert Hasse, 67, lifelong resident of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Munson Medical Center. Raymond was born on June 10, 1948 in Traverse City, to Francis and Josephine (Sleder) Hasse. He married Deloris Walsh on February 24, 1990, in Traverse City. Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy (1968-1975) during the Vietnam War. Raymond was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with "V" for Valor and numerous other service medals. He obtained the rank of Storekeeper 2nd Class.

Ray worked in the grocery industry for over 40 years, retiring from Tom's Food Markets in 2011, as Vice President of Operations. He enjoyed traveling, especially his recent trip to Europe, gardening, boating, and spending time with family and friends. He attended Christ Community Church of Traverse City and made eleven mission trips to Haiti. Ray's legacy will be his loving and giving spirit. He was a friend and mentor to many and will be truly missed.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Deloris, his mother, Josephine Hasse, a son, Andrew (Stacy) Hasse of Morgantown, PA; two daughters, Lorie (Alan) Johnson of Grand Haven; and Alisa (James) Gallo of Kingsley; six grandchildren; Nicholas, Emily, Hailey, Raymond, Alexis and Payton. Also surviving are two sisters; Frances (Robert) Stoner and Linda (James) Parr as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Francis Hasse.

Friends are welcome to visit with Ray's family on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City.

A funeral service honoring Ray will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Doyle Berg, Jr. will officiate.

Military Honors conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and Cherryland V.F.W. Post 2780.
