Reva Marie Teboe (Detour), 100 years of age, went to meet our Lord, on September 13, 2024, at Medilodge GTC in Traverse City.
A Traverse City native, Reva was born on July 16, 1924, to Agnes Jenny Detour (Forton) and Edward Albert Detour. After graduating from St. Francis High School in 1942, she went to work for her brother Levi at the J&S Hamburg downtown Traverse. She loved working there, especially the curb service area, and had many amusing stories of the everyday happenings doing restaurant work.
In August of 1946, Reva married the love of her life and partner, Ralph Teboe. Together, they built "Teboe Florist & Greenhouses," which was a staple in Traverse City for 66 years. They went on to have three children whom she adored, Colleen, Noralee, and Traver, and later Frank Rokos who became part of the family, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Reva dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother, grandmother (Mimi), and great-grandmother.
Reva was known for many things, like her stylish and refined wardrobe (which she wore whether in the yard raking, which she loved, or at Saturday mass), to her legendary no-bake cookies, to scalloped potatoes that she frequently made to serve her Parish, even though she secretly hated all the peeling. But, she was most notably known for her heart.
She lived to serve and love others, from planning lively parties for her grandkids every holiday throughout the year, to taking them to the Cherry Festival, and showing up for every ball game and concert, to just sitting on her floral pink couch next to her family and friends telling stories. Her life revolved around connection, loving God and loving others, including her dogs. She was the epitome of the adage "To know her is to love her." From the flowers she helped grow, to the kids she helped raised, to joy she spread, and the smile she always had on her face, Reva brought beauty into this world.
Reva was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Francis Church, where she contributed her time to yearly Christmas bazaars and frequent funeral luncheon ministry. She pointed many to Jesus. She will be greatly missed.
A special thank you, on behalf of the family, to the entire staff of Medilodge GTC and Hospice of Michigan for making Reva's time there comfortable and happy.
