January 27, 1929 — April 6, 2015

Rhea Alice Sivek, 86, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, April, 6, 2015, at Munson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Rhea was born on January 27, 1929, in Traverse City to the late William and Mabelle (Boyer) Wiesler. She married the late Robert A. Sivek who preceded her in death on May 4, 1990. They were married on June 2, 1948, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. Together, they lovingly raised four wonderful children.

Rhea graduated from St. Francis High School and Central Michigan College. She retired in 1986 after working 20 years at the Traverse City Regional Psychiatric Hospital as a Nurse Attendant and a Nursing Service Supervisor. She worked on Hall II, in the children's unit, and The Independence Lodge, cottage 29. Rhea was a member of the S.E.R.A and the T.C.R.P.H Lunch Bunch. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering at the Carmelite Monastery and previously, 14 years of dedicated service at the Father Fred Foundation. Sewing, crafting and spending time with her family were some of her favorite times. Most importantly, she was proud to be living at home, independently, and had her driver's license and car until the day she died.

Surviving Rhea are her children, Robert (Kathy) Sivek Jr., Suzanne Sivek, Lynda (Robert) Edenburn, and Rebecca (Don) Bowman, grandchildren, Erika, Genell, Bethany, Tyler, Alan, Calvin, Samantha, Jennifer, Anthony, Renee, and Ray; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ida (Mark) Coonan and many other loving family members and friends.

Rhea is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Jack Wiesler, Janet Vidro, Donna Flickinger, and Robert Wiesler.

Visitation will be held for Rhea from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
