Rhette Byron Counts

Traverse City-Rhette B. Counts, 63, a longtime resident of Traverse City, died Monday morning, June 18, 2012, at his home, following a sudden illness.
Born on June 15, 1949 in Clintwood, VA he was the son of the late Jess and Elizabeth (Cunningham) Counts.
Rhette was a proud veteran and served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Traverse City for a number of years.
Rhette was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his true passion was riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his son, Andy B. (Kathleen) Schlagel, of Beulah; grandchildren, McKenna and Madison; sisters, Greta (Dan) Jablonski of Gibraltar and Lola (Rod) Bayer of Redford; several nieces and nephews; along with his good friends, John and Mary Fraiser and their family.
Cremation has taken place.
Rhette will be remembered by his family privately.
