Richard Allen "Dick" Wilson, age 76, passed away on April 6, 2026.
Dick was born on August 13, 1949, in South Haven to Frank and Doris Wilson. He was raised in South Haven alongside his sister, Nancy Wilson. Dick graduated from South Haven High School, where he was a proud member of the wrestling team.
Following high school, Dick was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he met and married Eileen Nelson, also of South Haven. The couple made their home in Grand Rapids, where they welcomed their two children, Amy Marie Wilson and Luke Allen Wilson.
Dick spent many years working at Reynolds Metals Company. After its closure, he continued working at King Archery, where he not only developed a passion for archery but also enjoyed competing and coaching others in the sport. Later, he joined MC Sporting Goods.
Following his divorce from Eileen, Dick relocated to Traverse City, where he took on a management role with MC Sporting Goods. He remained there until his retirement. In his retirement years, Dick found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his son and close friends.
Dick will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of archery and the outdoors, and the time he cherished with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Amy Marie Verstraete and Luke Allen Wilson; his sister, Nancy Hester; his grandchildren: Cray Valdez, Ariel Verstraete, Brooke Westerfield, Laney Kangas, Jakoby Fast and Zoey Fast; his three great grandchildren, and many friends.
