Traverse City - Richard (Dick) Junior Bartlett, 86, of Uniontown, Ohio and formerly of Traverse City passed away June 27, 2017 at Jackson Ridge Nursing Home after suffering with Lewy Body Dementia.

Richard was born on November 23, 1930 in Saginaw to the late Richard and Audrey (Campbell) Bartlett. On August 16, 1952 Richard married the love of his life Maxine Ellen Tolles at the Saginaw Church of God.

Dick was a Church of God (Anderson, IN) minister. He pastored for over 50 years, serving the communities of Anderson, IN; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Edmonton, Alberta; South Haven, IN; Traverse City, Saginaw, Mt. Pleasant, and Honor, MI. He was passionate about building into small, struggling congregations and had a heart for people who are often overlooked. He was involved with the ministerial associations in the various cities where he lived. He also served as a Youth, Children's and Family Camp Director and as a Boy Scout Leader for many years. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and building projects, building his own house from the ground up. He thoroughly enjoyed his life and would often say that as long as God could continue to use him, he was happy to keep on living.

Dick is preceded in death by Maxine E. Bartlett, his beloved wife of 63 years and his ministry partner; and siblings Spencer (Juanita) Bartlett and Lorena Watters.

He is survived by daughter Rebecca (Melvin) Schafer of Uniontown, OH, sons Rodney (Penny) Bartlett of Longview, TX, and Dennis (Tracey) Bartlett of Traverse City; six granddaughters Alyssa (Chris) Scheck, Amber Schafer, Jessica (Travis) Terry, Samantha (John) Courtney, Bethany Bartlett, and Elizabeth (Adam) Nelson; four great-grandchildren Corbin and Abigail Terry and Nathanael and Anneliese Scheck; and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 4-7pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating Dick's life will take place on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11am, with visitation beginning at 10am at Bayview Wesleyan Church. Dick will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Interlochen.
