Richard Emil Beaujean

Richard Emil Beaujean, age 88, passed away November 28, 2015 Lake Ann, Michigan. He was born in Windsor, Ontario on May 16, 1927 to the late Emil and Myrtle (Andrews) Beaujean. On May 31, 1947, in St. Clair Shores, he married Shirley May Eberts, who survives.

Richard worked for Ford Motor Company in the cafeteria as a chef and food service manager. He grew up in St. Clair Shores and lived in Roseville where he raised his family. In 2009, he and Shirley moved from Roseville to Lake Ann to live with their daughter, Ann.

Richard enjoyed fishing, walking, working outside and playing cards in his free time. Most of all, he treasured being with his family. He also liked roller skating, ice skating, and gymnastics. Those who knew him well might be surprised to discover that Richard was an ardent fan of symphonic music, opera, and live theatre.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Ann (Mark Perry) Beaujean of Lake Ann, Richard (Rhoda) Beaujean of Vassar; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Mayes, Jennifer Beaujean and Jack Perry; and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kelsey Mayes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Myrtle Beaujean; brothers, William, Roy and Robert; sisters, Rosemary, Jean, Betsy and Vivian; son-in-law, Steven David Clark; and beloved aunt and uncle, Florence and Maurice Moore.

A memorial service honoring Richard will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. Pastor Mike Simon will officiate. Luncheon to follow at the Park Place, 300 E. State St., Traverse City, MI 49684.

Burial will take place at Greenbriar Cemetery in Lake Ann next spring. For those wishing to give a gift in memory of Richard, contributions may be directed to the Detroit Goodfellows, P.O. Box 44444, Detroit, MI 48244-0444.
