Rev. Richard Ralph Blaser, 78, of Traverse City, passed away May 21, 2019 at Munson Medical Center. Richard heard his best friend and savior Jesus say "Today you will be in paradise" as he entered into eternal life.

Richard was born on July 2, 1940 in Traverse City, the son of Jack and Inez Blaser.

He grew up in Traverse City and graduated from Traverse City High School in 1958. He then joined the United States Air Force shortly after and was honorably discharged in 1966. While in the Air Force he learned to be a Refrigeration Tech and continued in this profession for over 60 years.

After graduating from boot camp Richard married the late Bonnie Louise Wescott, the love of his life.

Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the mid 1970's. He went on to be a pastor at Our Fathers House in Empire for over 30 years. He was involved in many community projects. He loved life and was loved by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his four children Teri Lynn Blaser, Brian (Linda) Blaser, Kerry (Kelli) Blaser and Kevin Blaser; siblings Robert Blaser, Vada (Bill) Blaser Batz, Donald (Jimmy) Blaser, Evelyn (Bob) Blaser Hawkins; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, great uncle Robert Stoops who is 101 years young and many other family members and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, second wife Ann Marie whom he loved deeply, and brother Richard Smedley.

The memorial service will be held on June 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens where Richard will receive full military honors.
