Richard Dale Brow, 81, of Traverse City passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. Rich was born on December 6, 1936 in Flint, Michigan to the late Edward and Loyola (Drow) Brow. He married the love of his life Velma LaCross, who survives, on June 5, 1956 in Lake Leelanau, Michigan. Rich honorably served his country as a Master Sargent and an Electronics Technician in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1975 after 20 years of service. After retiring Rich and his family moved to Traverse City where he built his home. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, fishing, doing crossword puzzles and working on the computer. Above all spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Velma, two daughters and a son; Lynne (Mark) Martinmaas, Rich (Merry) Brow and Barbara Brow, a daughter-in-law, Terra Brow. Also surviving are grandchildren; Amber (Jason) Garrett, Joe (Amanda) Nunez, Genna (Bern) Dealy, Faith Martinmaas, Noah Martinmaas, Nicole Brow, Samantha (Jake) Stites, Loren (Jessica) Brow and Rachel Brow, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Rich was preceded in death by a son, Steven Brow, a brother, Robert (Laurie) Brow and a sister, Norma (Bruce) Wood.
A memorial service honoring Rich will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City Michigan 49684. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Stachnik will officiate.
Military honors conducted under the auspices of the United States Air Force, Cherryland V.F.W. Post 2780 and American Legion Post 35.
