Richard Bernard Felcyn, 86, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014.
Richard was born on May 20, 1928 in Detroit, MI to the late Chester and Wanda (Krasniewski) Felcyn. He married the late Donna Helbrecht in August 1953.
Richard honorably served our country during WW II in the United Sates Army. After his time in the service he was drafted by the NY Giants baseball farm team, but elected to find full-time employment instead. He continued to play baseball in the Detroit area for many years to come and was sought after by many area leagues for his prowess as a pitcher and first baseman. He retired after 34 years of employment from Michigan Bell Telephone Company.
His fondest memories included spending time with his family and friends at his lake cottages in Farwell and Evart, MI. Later in life he engaged on a second career as a singer for The Gentle Touch band based in the Detroit area. "Richie" also enjoyed spending time with many good friends who were employees at the Turtle Creek Casino.
Surviving Richard are his children, Kathryn (William) Thomas, Richard Felcyn, Patrick (Sheila) Felcyn, grandchildren Jessica and Stephen Thomas, Kurtis and Kelly Felcyn, great-grandchildren Tyler and Rose Thomas, sister Wanda (Tom) Ozanic, very special friend and confidant Sandra Felcyn and many other loving family members and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, and brothers Robert and Leon Felcyn.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 11:00 am, at Faith Reformed Church, 1139 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI. Pastor David Anderson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of your choice. Please sign Richard's online guestbook at
