Richard August Graf, age 83, of Grawn, died peacefully in his sleep on Oct. 30, 2019 at Munson Medical Center.

Richard was born July 24, 1936 in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Geneva (Falor) Graf. On Oct. 12, 1957 he married Ruth Ann Weidenhamer. They shared 62 years together. Richard spent many years as a licensed builder in the Grand Traverse area building homes and garages. He was also known to many for providing affordable housing.

Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth; one brother, Gale (Mary) Graf; his children, Jared (Elizabeth) Graf, Pamela (Van) Dorman, Rebecca (Gary) Hunt and Mark (Eleanor) Graf; 13 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., with viewing and visitation one hour prior to the service, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. A luncheon will be provided at the Kirkbride Hall hosted by the ladies of the Traverse Bay Mennonite Church following the committal service at Memorial Gardens.
