Obituary

Richard A. Hall,88, of Elk Rapids and Bradenton Florida, passed away Friday September 27, 2024 at Munson Hospice House.

Richard was born in Plainwell MI on August 25, 1936. He grew up in the Grand Haven area and graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1954.

After graduation he joined the Air Force and served his country, retiring after 23 years.

Upon his return to civilian life, he took a job with the United States Postal Service where he met the love of his life, Arlene. They dated for 29 months before surprising their co-workers with an invitation to their wedding. They celebrated 43 years of marriage before she passed last October. He joined her in heaven on their 44th anniversary, 9-27-24.

After 20 years with the Postal Service Rich retired as a Postmaster. He and Arlene spent their retirement enjoying family friends in both Elk Rapids and Bradenton, Florida.

From his youth, sports were important to Richard. He was an avid golfer, hitting the links with buddies in both Michigan and Florida. He was a die-hard U of M fan, cheering on his Wolverines every chance he got. Richard enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, and especially enjoyed cheering on the local youth. Basketball, volleyball, baseball and especially football were a few of his favorites as a spectator.

A memorial service is scheduled Saturday October 5th at 11am at Calvary Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids. Military Honors will be conducted at church under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the Amvets Post 114. A luncheon will follow at the Elk Rapids Amvets post.

In lieu of flowers donations in Richard's name may be made to either Elk Rapids High School Athletics or Munson Hospice House.
