Richard "Dick" Michael Jarvis, 76, of Traverse City passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born Friday, September 13, 1940 in Detroit, MI to the late Michael and Marie (Oehler) Jarvis. After high school, Richard served his Country in the United States Army, and later attended Walsh Institute and University of Detroit. He earned his CPA in 1969 and worked at Jarvis & Kindlinger, P.C.
Dick was quick to lend a helping hand and was generous sharing with others. He gave of his time through volunteering with the National Cherry Festival and the Traverse City Elks Lodge, #323. The Elks were very dear to Dick's heart, as he was a Past Exalted Ruler. He looked forward to receiving the monthly Elks bulletin, reading it from cover to cover. He enjoyed bowling and golfing.
He is survived by his wife Susan (Schroeder) Jarvis of Traverse City; daughter Jennie (Jeremy) Smith of Interlochen; son John (Pamela) Jarvis of Ontario; sister Mary Ellen (Benedict) Temerowski of Chesterfield Township, MI; grandchildren Anjali Jarvis, Alisha Jarvis, Riley Bell, Raya Bell and Irelyn Smith.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Judith (Rathsburg) Jarvis; mother Marie (Oehler) Jarvis; and father Michael Jarvis.
The family will hold private family services at a later date.
