Richard "Dick" Lee Adamson

TRAVERSE CITY- Richard "Dick" Lee Adamson, 92, of Traverse City, formerly of Detroit and Clarkston, MI passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Munson Medical Center. Dick was born in 1921 to the late Harry and Janet (Cobb) Adamson. He was married to Margaret Bronick in 1950 in Redford, MI. Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 35 and the China Marine Association. Dick had been employed with General Motors at the Fisher Body Plant until his retirement. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church and a Golden K member of Kiwanis. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with Marg throughout Canada and the U.S. Sailing was Dick's true passion. He sailed in several Port Huron to Mackinaw Races and was a Past Commodore of the Pontiac Yacht Club, which boasts the largest Lightning sailboat fleet in the world. Some of his other interests were hunting birds and deer, as well as wood carving.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marg, two sons: Lynn (Barbara) Adamson and Mark (Connie) Adamson and a granddaughter, Kelly Adamson.
Dick was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
A funeral service honoring Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St. The Rev. Dr. William C. Myers will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted. Friends are welcome to visit with Dick's family on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m.
