Richard "Dick" Lewis Costlow, 78, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Dick was born on January 30, 1944 in Kingman, Arizona to the late Quienton and Micki (Mahan) Costlow. He married the love of his life, Suzanne Lichty on June 16, 1979 in Traverse City.

Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. He had been employed as a Directional Surveyor, for Oil Well Drilling Corporation of Lafayette, Louisiana, retiring in 2012 after many years of service. Dick loved music, he played guitar in the bluegrass band, Sour Mash. Dick was a great family man, he bled LSU Football and loved fishing. He was very outgoing, was always whistling, had a great sense of humor and was never wrong.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Suzanne, two sons; Mark Lichty and Chris Costlow, his grandchildren; Morgan (Matt) Bruinsma, Garrett Lichty and Tyler Costlow and great-grandchildren; Robbie and Ollie Bruinsma. Also surviving are a brother; Dennis (Cheryl) Costlow, a sister, Sally Bowers, two brothers-in-law; Steve Hansen and Rick (Shawna) Hansen as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Sgt. Justin Hansen.

A funeral service honoring Richard will take place at 3:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
