TRAVERSE CITY – Richard E. Miller, 88, of Leland, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. He was born on February 17, 1925 in Bellville, Ohio to the late Paul and Helen (Nichols) Miller. He was married to Elizabeth "Betty" Booth on February 11, 1952 in Cleveland Heights, OH. She survives him. Dick was a proud graduate of Ohio University. He had been employed with the East Ohio Gas Company, retiring in 1995 after over 30 years of service. Since his retirement Dick and Betty have been residents of Leland. He was a member of the Leland United Methodist Church as well as the Leland Rotary. Dick had a passion for politics; he was a very proud American and a proud Republican. Dick loved the weather; he was an amateur meteorologist many family and friends would call on Dick for an accurate weather forecast.

Surviving to cherish his memory are; his loving wife of 61 years, Betty; his son and daughter; Tom Miller and Mary Beth Mitchael; two grandchildren; Kristen (Steve) Hoebel-Hernandez and Lucas Mitchael and a great-grandson; Ryland Hernandez.

Dick was preceded in death by a brother; Paul Miller, Jr.

A funeral service honoring Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Leland United Methodist Church, 106 N. Fourth St. Leland, MI. Pastor Virginia Heller will officiate. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery.

Friends are welcome to visit with Dick's family on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City and at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
