Mr. Richard M. Olin, III, 94, passed away May 15, 2022 in Williamsburg, Michigan.
Richard was born April 4, 1928 in Walker, MI, and grew up in the Detroit area. He married the love of his life, Elaine (Sanko) Olin, in 1948. Together, they loved to travel and explored much of the U.S. and beyond.
Richard honorably served our country in the United States Army Alaska Defense Command in the late 1940s. In the late 60s and early 70s, he went on to serve as Chief of Police for Elk Rapids, then as a Deputy for the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Department in Traverse City. He later became a talented Master Electrician and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
Richard was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was a generous man with the highest levels of integrity, honor, and strength.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their sons, Ron (Julie), Randy (Kris), Russell (Cathy), and Les (Stacy). He is also survived by his two sisters, Grace Mikolaizyk and Mary Sundstrom, as well as by numerous Grandchildren, Great Grand Children, Nieces, and Nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his eldest son, Richard IV (Marie).
