Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Richard "Dick" "Poppy" Rodebaugh, 74, of Traverse City, unexpectedly died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at home.Dick was born March 7, 1937, to the late Howard and Josephine (Leonard) Rodebaugh in Goshen, Ind. Richard entered into marriage with Betty Cheney on Aug. 8, 2008, in Traverse City.Dick made a living installing cable systems throughout Kalkaska, Glen Lake, Glen Arbor, Lake Ann, Suttons Bay and Kingsley. He owned multiple cable companies servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. Dick also founded Dick's Antenna Service, but as of late he, with the help of his wife, Betty, had been a Fiber Optic Technician.Dick was very generous, caring and hard-working. He will be remembered for keeping his yard completely immaculate. He loved to spend time at Long Lake.Richard is survived by his wife, Betty; the mother of his children, Jacqueline; his seven children, Michelle (John) McManus, of Traverse City, Col. Ret. Ritch (Lisa) Rodebaugh, of Virginia, Chris Rodebaugh, of Washington, Leanne (Radek) Rubello-Laucky, of Traverse City, Genessa (Todd) Gutzka, of Traverse City, Katrina (Jeff Gordon) Rodebaugh, of Traverse City, and Justin Rodebaugh, of Ohio; step-children, Brian Boadway, of Traverse City, David Tennis, of Massachusetts, and Margaret (Andy) Kostiew, of New Hampshire; siblings, Thomas (Pat) Rodebaugh, Jacqueline Hall, Roberta Bukiewicz. Dick is also survived by 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Josephine Rodebaugh; father, Joseph Molnar; brother, Larry; two infant sons, Patrick and Jacob; and father-in-law, Jack Cheney.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.Funeral services will take place at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, with Fr. Ken Stachnik officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery.
