Richard Rushing, 67, of Traverse City, died of respiratory failure, Sunday, September 20, 2015. After facing multiple health issues, he died peacefully in his home.
Richard was born on Wednesday, February 11, 1948 in Flint, the son of Betty M. (Homan) and Burrell Rushing. His wife Moni, who he married on Thursday, February 11, 1988, preceded him in death only by a few months.
He spent much of his life in the trades and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica. His hobbies included working with his hands, restoring furniture and boating on the Great Lakes. He was never shy of a good time and would refer to himself as "good time Charlie".
Survivors include his daughter Tracy Rushing (John Rooker) of Colorado and two grandchildren, Gavin and Grey Rooker. Also surviving are his sister, Lavonne and Ernie Agruda of Williamsburg and their family, Nicole Agruda, Ryan Agruda, Alicia Agruda, Lindsey Agruda O'Malley and her children Harper and Avery. His other sister, Sharon (deceased May 2016) and Gene Keefer of Grand Blanc and their family Tonya and Jerry Adams and their son Aaron, Brian and Gidget Keefer and their daughter Haley.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
A service celebrating the lives of Rick and Moni Rushing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Casual Reception will follow from 12 pm to 4 pm in the community room at Liv Arbors located 2955 Leggett Dr., Traverse City where food and refreshments will be served.
