Traverse City – Richard "Skoch" Frederic Viskochil, 78, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at the Grand Traverse Pavilions on July 26, 2015. Richard was born December 20,1936, at Munson Medical Center, in Traverse City, to the late Ralph and Daisy (Hadley) Viskochil.
Richard graduated from Traverse City High school in 1955 and attended Michigan State University where he received a degree in Civil Engineering and Urban Planning. He continued his studies earning a Master's Degree in Community Development. Richard was the Community Development Director for the city of Romulus and the City Planner for Highland Park and Sterling Heights.
Richard loved watching Michigan State University football and basketball. He had an extensive collection of toy model cars and German steins. He enjoyed watching crime shows, with NCIS being his favorite and enjoyed reading.
Richard loved being around his Class of '55. They got together at monthly lunch meetings at the Elks Club. He enjoyed his monthly lunch gatherings and loved his Holiday parties.
Richard married his best friend Diane Viskochil on April 2, 1966, at the Birmingham Congregational Church in Birmingham, Michigan. They moved to Traverse City in 1976.
His brothers Ralph and Ben Viskochil preceded Richard in death.
His wife Diane, nieces and nephews, survive him.
The family is planning private family services.
