Rick A. Franz, age 73, passed away on March 14th, 2024 in Traverse City, with his loving wife Ellen "Jane" Franz, by his side. He was born in Saginaw to Emil and Ruth Franz. Rick was a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Rick met the love of his life, Ellen "Jane," while working, and they embarked on a journey together that culminated in marriage on November 10th, 1990. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. His love for Jane was evident to all who knew them. Rick was desperately in love with his wife for as long as they were together, their bond serving as an inspiration to those around them.

Throughout his life, Rick was passionate about the field of technology, spending the majority of his career in the computer business. Additionally, he served his country with honor and pride as a member of the Air Force during his younger years. Having spent a portion of his life in Detroit, Rick touched the lives of many wherever he went.

In his leisure time, Rick found solace and joy in various activities. He cherished moments spent on their boat, creating memories on Torch Lake, and tending to his yard, where his love for nature flourished. Rick loved being outside, whether it was taking in the fresh air or "chopping down trees," as he often joked. Rick was also an esteemed member of the Elk Rapids VFW, where he found camaraderie and community.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen "Jane" Franz, and his siblings: Emil "Dutch" (Dorothy) III, Mark (Susan), and Sue (Rick) Ratcliff. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Franz.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a veterans association of your choice, in honor of Rick's service and commitment to his country.

Rick A. Franz will be remembered fondly for his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
