Rick Kenneth Leach died on September 28th in Traverse City, MI. He was born in Cadillac, MI on April 14th 1958. Rick attended Cadillac High School and went to NMC in Traverse City.
Rick "Tuna" spent many years working in local restaurants. During this time he gained a love of cooking and creating recipes. He left the restaurant business to become a teacher's aide with TBA-ISD and later TCAPS, where he was warmly known as Mr. Rick. Through his years with the school system, he also worked after school as a middle school football coach. He cherished the children he came to know during those years.
His most recent employment was with Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, where he became a certified Peer Support Specialist. He was very proud to use what he had learned from his own struggles to help others.
Rick leaves behind three brothers: Greg (Mari Alaina), Kelly (Sheri), and Shane (Nancy). He leaves behind ex-wife and friend Kelly Towner and one child, his daughter Delaney Rose, whom he lovingly called Peanut. She was his pride and joy and by far his greatest accomplishment.
He was preceded in death by father Jerry, mother Bonnie (Brooks), twin brother Rand, and his nephews Ryan and Kevin. His family's hope is that they are now together again.
Rick was best known for his sense of humor and his love of movies and music. He was always waiting to share a song or new band he had discovered. We will miss his stories, his corny jokes, sarcastic wit, and his gentle spirit.
A memorial service tribute honoring Rick will be held Friday, October 28, 11:00 AM, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Visitation one hour prior.
