Rita Veronica Madigan, 96, of Traverse City passed away September 7, 2018 at The Willows in Howell with her family by her side.

Rita was born on July 27, 1922 in Canonsburg, PA to the late Gabriel and Anna (Farkas) Jacob.

Rita graduated from St. Gregory's high school in Detroit in 1940.

On June 17, 1944 Rita married the love of her life, Mr. Donald Clark Madigan in Detroit.

Rita was devoted to her family and her faith. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and completing word searches. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Don and her sons Dennis and Don "Michael".

Rita is survived by her son James "Jim" (Christine) Madigan and daughter-in-law Sally Madigan; grandchildren Ryan Madigan, Craig (Courtney) Madigan, Bradley Madigan, Molly (Brad) Kallen, and Jessica Madigan; great grandchildren, Grace, Fiona, Jack, Michaela, Samuel, Jenna, Kyle, Skyler, Joey and Jake.

The memorial service celebrating Rita's life will be held at 11am on Saturday October 20, 2018 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
