TRAVERSE CITY — Robert Daniel Bond, 77, of Traverse City and formerly of Northville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Bob was born Dec. 4, 1932, to the late Robert and Agnes (Weaver) Bond in Bay City.He and his wife, Marlene, were currently members at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme. Bob attended the University of Detroit and the University of Michigan for Chemical Engineering. Bob answered the call of duty to serve during the Korean War at the American Embassy in Japan. On Jan. 14, 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Marlene Klein, also of Bay City. They are parents of six children, now 12, and proud of all their accomplishments. Bob's passion was his family. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, birds, reading and spending time with his family. Bob will be remembered for his humor and light-hearted nature leaving a legacy of smiles and laughter for his loving family to continue.Bob is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Marlene Bond, of Williamsburg; their six children, Mary (Andy) Pinkos, of Clarkston, Kerry (Lee) Gavin, Jean (Mike) Freckelton, Rob (Jeri) Bond, all of Pickney, Greg (Anne) Bond, of Northville, and Bruce (Katie) Bond, of Aurora, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, Eric, Cori, Kevin, Scott, Aaron, Michael, Lauren, David, Tressa, Kristen, Kailey, Madison, Jared and Ashley; his brother, Gerald Bond, of Florida; as well as many other loving family members and friends.Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry Revord; and his sister, Sr. Betty Bond. A memorial Mass will take place at noon Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at St. Colette Catholic Church, located on Newburgh Road in Livonia, with the Rev. Gary Michalik officiating. Family will receive friends at St. Colette's Catholic Church prior to the Mass.Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
