Robert "Bob" E. Clark, 99, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Orchard Creek Skilled Nursing Home. Bob was born on May 23, 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Emerson and Mae (Merjus) Clark. He married his wife of 65 years, Isabel Smith, on June 6, 1944 in Hartford, Ohio. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2009.
Bob had been employed as a Mechanical Engineer with Chrysler Motor Company for 41 years retiring in 1979. Over the years Bob volunteered at the Cranbrook Schools Museum helping create and repair many exhibits. He had a passion for gardening, he was an organic gardener. He was able to graft trees, through this ability he was able to grow many wonderful fruit trees. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy, time at home or countless camping trips with grandchildren. When asked how are you doing? Bob would answer "first rate."
Bob is survived by two daughters and a son; Karen Clark, Nancy (Phil) Krempely and James (Sandi) Clark; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Rene (Thomas) Brodowski, and their children Tristan and Elaine, Greyson (Yulin) Chen-Landvoy and their children; Leo and Ari; Tiffany (Brian) Profitt, with twins on the way, Lindsay Krempley, Wyatt Krempley, Shannon Clark and Brian Clark. Also surviving is a sister Virginia Menninger.
Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy.
In accordance with Bob's wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
