Robert "Bob" James Ehrenberger passed away at Grand Traverse Pavilions on February 22, 2024. He was 78 years old.
Bob was a life-long resident of Traverse City and was born in San Francisco, CA, November 15, 1945 to Joseph and Ethel (Allgaier) Ehrenberger where his dad was serving in the US Navy during WWII. He graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1963.
Bob enlisted in the US Air Force in 1964 and served one tour in Viet Nam in 1967 at Cam Ranh Bay receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal at the end of that tour.
Returning home, Bob delivered merchandise throughout northern Michigan for Bergen/Brunswig Corporation for 24 years. One could annually see Bob working at the Cherry Festival (35 yrs.) and at the Grand Traverse County Fair. He and his dad often went to estate sales where he had collected lots of things. Bob collected post cards and was an avid reader of local history, the wild west, and the circus.
Bob was a lifelong resident on 7th Street. He was the 4th generation to live there making it over 130 years that an Ehrenberger had lived on 7th Street. He was a longtime faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Bob was an only child, never married and was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves numerous cousins from the Ehrenberger and Allgaier families.
The family would like to thank those at French Manor South Assisted Living, most recently those at Grand Traverse Pavilions, and to his cousins Judy Robinson and Don Ehrenberger for their assistance these last few years.
A Memorial Mass in his honor will take place at 11am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Funeral arrangements were made by Reynolds Jonkhoff and a celebration of life will occur later in the spring.
