GRAWN — Robert D. Griffin, 71, of Grawn, passed away Jan. 7, 2012, at his home.Bob was born Dec. 26, 1940, in Traverse City, to the late Raymond and Etta (Conroy) Griffin. On Nov. 28, 1959, Bob married the former Bonnie Beckwith.Bob honorably served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, the Korean War Vets Association - Grand Traverse Coalition, and the Traverse Area Veterans Coalition. He also served proudly with the VFW Honor Guard for several years.In his spare time Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie; sons, Kenneth (Deb), of Traverse City, and Michael, of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla and Corey; great-granddaughter, Addison, and soon-to-be-born great-grandson, Easton Robert Griffin; and sister, Norma Hussleston, of Lake Ann.Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell and Allen Griffin.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Grawn, followed by a luncheon at the VFW Hall on Veterans Drive in Traverse City.The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
