Robert "Bob" Griffith Evans, 80, of Traverse City passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Traverse Victorian Inn surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on March 3, 1936 in Bay City, MI to the late Robert J. and Sarah (Morgan) Evans. He married the late Suzanne J. Pfundt on April 19, 1958, also in Bay City, Michigan. Together they raised three wonderful children; Mark, Brian and Jeannie.

Bob honorably served our Country in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957 and he was on active reserve until 1962. He worked with the FAA as an air traffic control/flight service specialist, retiring in 1987.

Bob was a devoted member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Sampson Air Force Base Veterans Association and the American Legion. He loved aviation, boats, fishing and was an avid fan of the University of Michigan Football. Also, he was very proud of his Welsh Heritage.

Most importantly Bob was a family man. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sense of humor and love for aviation will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his children; Mark R. (Patricia) Evans; Brian A. Evans both of Traverse City, Jeannie Binsfeld of Oostburg, WI; five grandchildren; Heather (Matthew) DeFer, Amanda (Jake) Tomlinson, Jonathan (Kaela) Binsfeld, Ron (Molly) Binsfeld and Michael (Becky) Binsfeld; five great-grandchildren; Ava, Carson, Autumn, Hazel and Ethan; brother, Richard Evans, sister-in-law Barbara Evans, brother-in-law Joseph McGivern, and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, from 4-7pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 10, at 11am with a visitation beginning at 10am at St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
