Robert "Bob" Lloyd Hamacher, 84 of Traverse City passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Munson Medical Center.

Bob was born on May 11, 1930 in Grand Rapids to the late Lloyd and Ruth (Lunstra) Hamacher. He married Sharon L. Stephenson on September 11, 1954 in Traverse City.

Bob honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from Michigan Bell in May of 1992 after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the FOE Eagles and Elks Lodge 323, and past president of the Elk Rapids Sportsman Club. In his spare time he enjoyed photography and traveling with his wife. Above all, Bob enjoyed 'shooting' the breeze with his friends and family. Bob also enjoyed his time spent in the woods with his son and grandsons. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving Bob is his wife Sharon of 59 years, children Laura (Steven) Bongard of Holland, MI, Michael Hamacher of Traverse City, grandchildren Adam (Athena) Bongard of Anchorage, AK, Jim (Jackie) Bongard of Holland, MI, great grandchildren, Calvin, Aiden and Cassey, a brother David Hamacher of Gowen, MI brother and sister in-law Bev and Larry Stephenson, sister-in-laws Lee Stephenson, Julie Stephenson, and many other loving family members and friends.
