Robert "Bob" Lyons Jr., 68, of Interlochen, passed away on August 24, 2023.
Bob was born on April 8, 1955 to the late Robert and Agnes (Thompson) in Kenmore, NY. He was one of three children leaving behind a sister and brother.
Bob was a chef by trade, working at the Pinestead Reef, Embers on the Bay, South City Limits and Phil's on Front. He was a member of Chef's d'Cuisine and in 1992 Bob received 2nd place in the hot foods competition at the National Restaurant & Hotel Association in Chicago. In 1989 and 1990, he won the Cherry Festival Best of Foods Award. His American spaghetti and marinated tomatoes were definitely two-family favorites.
He was an avid sports fan playing baseball and football when he was younger and faithfully supporting the likes of the Detroit based teams. He loved to garden; flowers were not only a hobby but a passion.
Family was number one on Bob's list of treasures, especially his sons Rob and Chris; he was their biggest fan, whether in life or on the sidelines of their sporting events. In addition to family being the most important thing in his world, he also took great pride in his better part of 34+ years sobriety and membership with Alcoholics Anonymous.
He is survived by his son Rob (Jodi), grandkids; Mason and Brenna, sister Pamela (Thomas) Bender and brother Bill.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son Chris.
An open house will take place on Saturday September 2, 2023 from 4:30p-7p at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a time of sharing beginning at 5pm.
