Robert 'Bob' M. Meredith
TRAVERSE CITY – Robert Murel Meredith, age 89, of Traverse City passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home in the care of those who loved him.
Bob was born July 29, 1929 in Copemish, MI and was the son of Murel and Isma (McDonald) Meredith. Bob grew up in Mesick and was a graduate of Mesick High School. He served 4 years in the Army as part of the occupation force in Germany. On June 19, 1954 in Mesick, he married Dorothy Neuman of Traverse City. Together they owned and operated Neuman Display Service in Traverse City for over 30 years. Many of the floats for the Cherry Festival were designed by Bob.
He was a past master and life member of Mesick Masonic Lodge, a life member of the Traverse City V.F.W. Cherryland Post #2780 and also a member of the T.C. Elks Lodge. Bob spent many winters in Lakeland, Florida with his wife and family.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and his morning coffee klatch at Round's Restaurant. He was known for his quick wit and smile.
Bob is survived by his grandson, Kyle Meredith; nephews, Joe (Kristin) Meredith and Garry (Katie) Burroughs; nieces, Linda Garnica, Connie Klimp and Tammy (Snow) Vollmar. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, in 2009 and son, Michael, in 2017.
Visitation for Bob will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, April 22, 2019. A funeral service for Bob will take place at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Graveside services will take place immediately following the service where a procession will lead family and friends to Bob's final resting place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will be held at the VFW Cherryland Post #2780 following the graveside service.
