A Memorial luncheon will take place on Saturday march 13, 2021 from 1-3pm at the Long Lake Friends Church. Please bring your favorite memory to share!





Robert Arthur Nugent, 53, once again put on his Back Pack and began a new journey.
Through all his years of travel he met a diversity of folks who became friends and family. Children and animals immediately knew that he was kind, gentle and safe.
His first job at Carl's Retread on S. Airport Rd. produced his oldest lifelong friend Mike H. Many adventures ensued as they were two peas in a pod.
Art's heart and soul never left the Island. He enjoyed the simple life it offered. And being from an island, he comes from a long line of seaman and woke up at the crack of dawn.
In later years his great pal Scott T. kept him busy working landscaping. Many a jug and stories of old were shared around Scott's bonfires.
In 2013 Art came home from living on the Colorado Springs river. He hung up his pack when he met his soul-mate Beth. 7 years he loved her deeply. He couldn't have found another that ever loved him more unconditional. His fur babies Sage and Rain will forever be at the door waiting.
Pancreatic cancer took him too soon.
Our memories of his great humour, a zest for life and willingness to help, love and protect others will always remain in our hearts.
His family and friends will raise a toast (many) to him at a later date when it is safer to gather, as we all know Art did have quite the following.
As his road here has come to an end, an old Palmer family saying; Art was "A damn good plasterer when he wasn't plastered!"
His camaraderie and special kinship with sister Karen grew through these last years. She would not leave him, ever.
Arthur and Karen lost part of their heart when sister Liz passed in 2000. One and a half years ago a fate driven reunion beheld their older sister Robin. We love her. And get this, she loves us!
Art and his family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
