Obituary

Robert James Stark, age 70, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Traverse City.

Robert was born on March 25, 1955, in Traverse City to Eugene Stark and Olga "Dodie" Stark (née Brief). He spent his life in the community he loved, graduating from Traverse City Central High School with the Class of 1973.

In 1976, Robert married the love of his life, Terry Jo Stark (née Rudolph). Together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family, raising two children, Emily and Robert, who were the center of his world.

Robert found his greatest joy outdoors. He looked forward to bowhunting season each year, cherished time fishing from his boat, and proudly provided for his family with the deer he harvested and the fish he caught. He was an avid morel mushroom hunter and enjoyed metal detecting, always eager for the next adventure. At home, Robert was a talented cook who loved preparing meals for those he cared about, and a devoted gardener who took pride in his harvest. Known as a true handyman, he could fix just about anything, a gift his family and friends relied on often.

Robert and Terry shared a love of travel and explored many places together, including memorable trips to Mexico. He was a loyal sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. No matter the occasion, Robert preferred to be outside, where he felt most at peace.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Terry Jo Stark; his children, Emily Bronkema and Robert (Kassandra) Stark; his grandchildren, Jacob Bronkema, Robbie Stark, and Olivia Stark; his sisters, Jean (Jack) Hines and Carol Grieb; his sister-in-law, Jane (Gary) Kreps; and his brother-in-law, Rex (Karen) Rudolph.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leroy (Julie) Stark.

Private family services will be held.

We will miss you terribly, but will love you fiercely, and forever.
