Robert "Bob" Sturgis Samuelson passed away in the comfort of his home on April 5th, 2024. He was born in Traverse City on May 30th, 1943, to Ralph Nyman Samuelson and Alice May Samuelson.
Bob was a gifted artist, musician, inventor, and a master at building model airplanes. He was the past co-owner, with his brother Don, of The Concrete Service, Inc, where he worked for many years using his numerous talents to help grow the business. He was a proud Marine, serving six months before being medically discharged.
His love for adventure and zest for life included flying his hot air balloon, building and riding motorcycles, and owning several cars, motorhomes, boats, and his dogs. He especially loved hot weather and was happiest on the water in one of his many boats - small boats, large boats, fast boats, vintage boats, and sailboats. He was also a generous friend to many.
He is survived and missed by his brother Don (Jill) Samuelson, brother-in-law Bob Overholt, nieces Andrea (Ryan) Critchfield, Leigh (Jeff) Fredline, nephew Brad Overholt, many great-nieces and nephews, longtime companion and devoted caregiver Jenny Stevenson, and several good friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Dorothy Overholt.
We are thankful for caregiver and friend Kerri Reed and Munson Hospice nurses for their great care and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial gifts to Peace Ranch and the Traverse City Maritime Academy.
Visitation will take place Saturday, April 13th, at 2:00pm, with the funeral service starting at 3:00pm. Bob will be buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City.
