Robert "Bob" Wayne House, 75, of Maple City passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Munson Medical Center. Bob was born on Nov. 10, 1946 in Royal Oak Township to the late Robert and Bernice (Shooltz) House. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Kim House, a sister Judy (House) Enochs and a brother, Steven House.

He married the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Theodora "Teddy" Malinczak on July 2, 1971 in St. Clair Shores. She survives him. Also surviving are three nieces; Stephanie House, Leighann High and Raina House as well as many cousins and other family members.

Bob graduated from Dondero High School in 1966. After school, he joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country from 1967 to 1970. He was a commissary man (a cook) stationed out of Rhode Island on the USS Edward McDonald, DE 1043, the Destroyer Escort Fleet in the North Atlantic and with the Aircraft Carrier Wasp, all during the Vietnam era.

After his service in the Navy, Bob had been employed with the Ford Tractor Division in Birmingham and later the Lincoln Assembly Plant in Wixom. He was a member of two car clubs in the greater Detroit area; Street Machines Inc., in the 1970's, was active in charity cars show and cruises for helping others. Then later with United Street Machine Association. He was a member of St. Dennis Parish in Royal Oak, where he was active in both the Parish Council and the Community Service Committee.

After his retirement from Ford Motor Company in 1996, he moved to Maple City. Bob worked with Glen Lake School's theater department, building sets. He assisted his wife, Teddy with the Glen Arbor Players doing lighting and Foley sounds. By himself, in memory of his son, David. Bob rebuilt and restored a 1970 Mach I, 351 Cleveland, Mustang. He attended many car shows in Northern Michigan in that car. He was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America -Traverse City Chapter.

Bob mentored several young men from Glen Lake High School over the years. He taught them about cars, they went to car shows together and he was also always there just to talk. A foreign exchange student from Hong Kong, Keanu Mok (GLHS 2001) and another student from Glen Lake, Brandon Mikowski, both entered the U.S. Navy, inspired by Bob. He was extremely proud of all the young men he worked with over the years.
