Bruce Wierman of Alden, Michigan, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
Bruce was born to Leslie and Freda (Weifenbach) Wierman in Saginaw, MI, on July 30, 1935. After graduating high school, he proudly served his flag and country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Bruce graduated from Michigan State University and then earned his Master's degree at Colorado State University.
In 1962, Bruce started teaching for Flint Public Schools and more importantly, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Van Atta. Together, they raised three children.
After 30 years of teaching graphic arts, Bruce retired with Dorothy to the Alden area. He was a very active member of the Alden Community United Methodist Church and the Alden Men's Club. He also served as a fire department volunteer for 16 years with the South Torch Lake fire department, and was proud to have had fifty active years on the National Ski Patrol.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy; children Paige (Bob) Kirchner, Kayla (Terry) Terpstra, and Kurt (Nicole) Wierman; seven grandchildren; sister Arlene Lueck; dear friends and other beloved members of the family. There will be a memorial service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Alden Community United Methodist Church, 9015 Helena Road, Alden, MI 49612. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Immediately following you are cordially invited to join the family for a time of fellowship, food, and refreshments.
