Rod A. Wood, 91, of Traverse City passed away February 5, 2021 at the Arbor House on Old Mission Peninsula.
Rod was born on July 30, 1929 in Grand Rapids to the late John and Nola (Carlisle) Wood.
On February 10, 1947 Rod married the love of his life, Theresa Ducheney at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids.
Rod was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 35 years at the Traverse City State Hospital. He also worked for Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home in the 70's and Vita Boy Potato Chips. After retirement, for 17 years he and Theresa loved to travel in their motorhome. He also liked to read and was a dedicated volunteer at the Father Fred Foundation for eleven years. Fishing was also a favorite pastime of Rod's. He held the record for the largest lake trout ever caught in the bay for many years. Rod also liked to golf and was lucky enough to have a hole-in-one
Rod was preceded in death by his wife Theresa, three years ago almost to the day.
Rod is survived by his daughter Janice M. Weller; sons John D. Wood, Kim F. (Naeni) Wood and Mark S. Wood; grandchildren Jonas J. Weller, Nicole A. (Dan) O'Brien, Holly M. Wood and John R. Wood and great grandchildren Natalie A. Toothman and Carson D Toothman.
The memorial mass celebrating Rod's life will be held on April 24, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, Traverse City.
