Rodger M. Jabara, 72, of Traverse City, MI, died peacefully at his home on April 4, 2020. He was born July 3, 1947, the son of Mohammed "Albert" Jabara and Mary (Mellem) Jabara.
He graduated from Mancelona High School and went on to earn his degree in Business Management at Northwood University in Midland, MI.
In 1969, Rodger married Kathy (Bunetta) Jabara, making their home in Mancelona, MI. He worked in construction which led him to life at Schuss Mountain. His start was in laying footings for the chair lifts and went on to his being ski instructor, Ski Patrol member, and employee-then-owner of Pro Sport Center, aka "Schuss Mtn. Ski Shop". As the Schuss Mountain Golf Club grew, Rodger earned his membership in the PGA, going on to become Director of Golf for Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain Resorts.
During his earlier years, he could be found fly fishing on the Jordan River with his brother Omar.
Rodger is survived by his wife Kathy; sons Jason of Portland, OR; and Brandon of Loveland, CO; brothers Yousef "Yogi" of Mancelona and Fayze (Marlene) of Kalamazoo, MI; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Fatyma (Tom) Horrocks, Omar Jabara, and June (David) Basom.
A memorial service for Rodger will be held on August 22, 2020 at 1pm at the Mancelona United Methodist Church with a visitation beginning at noon.
